Youth organization suggested John Lee ban scholarships from foreign governments
Youth organization suggested sole chief executive candidate John Lee Ka-chiu to ban the British and US governments from offering scholarships to Hong Kong students who wish to study in United States or Europe.
According to the deputy director of John Lee's campaign office Raymond Tam Chi-yuen, Lee has almost completed drafting the election platform and will be announced this week.
Tam said the youth policy will be the most important part of the election platform, and the office has received proposals from 73 youth organizations.
Among them, GBA Education Resources Centre advocated Lee cut off scholarships from British and American governments for students who wish to study in prestigious institutions in Europe and the United States, so as to prevent students from being used to spread anti-China and anti-government thoughts in Hong Kong.
Other submitted proposals from organizations included the Hong Kong United Youth Association and the Hong Kong Federation of Overseas Chinese Associations.
