Young waitress who sold fake Blackpink concert tickets remanded in custody
A 20-year-old waitress faces prosecution after she was arrested for cheating about HK$50,000 from three people by selling 10 fake electronic tickets to the concerts by popular Korean girl group Blackpink.
Tsui Man-kit was charged with three counts of obtaining property by deception and a count of attempted obtaining property by deception.
Tsui needed not to enter a plea yet as she appeared before acting principal magistrate Veronica Heung Shuk-han in West Kowloon Court on Tuesday.
The hearing has been adjourned to March 14 and Tsui will remain remanded in custody until then, pending further police investigations.
She allegedly sold four fake e-tickets to a woman at Tin Shui Wai MTR station for HK$19,600 last Thursday. She also allegedly cheated HK$9,800 and HK$19,000 by selling two and four fake tickets to two men respectively last Saturday in Sham Shui Po.
Later that Saturday, Tsui attempted to further cheat about HK$20,000 from a third woman by selling to her four fake tickets at Sham Shui Po MTR station, but was revealed by the woman that the reference numbers on all four e-tickets were the same.
It was understood that Tsui made the tickets available for sale on social media and found the buyers. After setting up a meeting, the buyers would pay Tsui cash for the tickets and Tsui would then gave the false ticket QR codes to the buyers.
It was also understood that the victims have formed an alliance already after being cheated of the money.
The girl group's BORN PINK world tour staged three concerts at the AsiaWorld-Arena in Hong Kong from last Friday to Sunday (Jan 13-15), with the price of a ticket ranging from HK$799 to HK$2,999.
