Hong Kong's Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu touted on Sunday that Chinese president Xi Jinping's speech at the ongoing 20th National Communist Party Congress played a "mainstay" in Hong Kong's development.

Facebook page with a picture of him watching the live stream of the Congress, John Lee lauded Xi's speech, which included ensuring the city implements "One country, Two systems", describing it as "inspiring".
"Hong Kong has gone through the most severe test since it returned to the mainland during the past five years, but the nation has always been playing the backbone force," he said.
Lee noted the city is now on a brand new standpoint of development, announcing to bring about more measures and policies focusing on the economy and public welfare in his maiden Policy Address, which is scheduled to be released on Wednesday.
He promises to boost Hong Kong's competitiveness and improve the issue of land and housing supply.
Xi delivered a wide-ranging speech to kick off the Congress this morning, pleased that Hong Kong has transitioned from chaos to governance and ensuring the principle of patriots governing Hong Kong.
