President Xi Jinping signed orders to declare the adoption of amendments to Annex I and Annex II of the Basic Law, approved by the National People's Congress Standing Commitee in Beijing today, state media reports.
The two annexes are related to the method for the selection of the Hong Kong Chief Executive and the method for the formation of the Legislative Council and its voting procedures, respectively, Xinhua reports.
The amendments were passed at the closing meeting of the 27th session of the Standing Committee.
Li Zhanshu, chairman of the Standing Committee, presided over the meeting, attended by 167 members.
The meeting also passed bills related to personnel appointment and removal.
