Wong Tai Sin Temple holds flag-raising ceremony for 25th anniversary of HKSAR
Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple on Sunday held a flag-raising ceremony to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of HKSAR. It is the first major religious venue in Hong Kong to have a flag-raising platform and hold a flag-raising ceremony.
At around 8am, Hong Kong Adventure Corps led nearly 100 students taking foot drills from Fung Ming Hall to the flag-raising platform and held the ceremony.
Tan Tieniu, deputy chief of the Hong Kong Liaison Office, wrote to thank Sik Sik Yuen for carrying forward the tradition of patriotism and love for Hong Kong.
The letter read that the flag-raising platform and flag-raising ceremony held at Sik Sik Yuen were of great significance in fostering the public's sense of national identity and national sentiment, as well as strengthening the patriotic education of the faithful.
He hoped that Sik Sik Yuen would continue to uphold its mission, making greater contributions to "one country, two systems" and building of a better future for Hong Kong.
Police commissioner Raymond Siu Chak-yee said in the video that he was glad to see Sik Sik Yuen demonstrate its patriotism and love for Hong Kong by building a flag-raising platform and holding a flag-raising ceremony inside the temple.
A flag-raising ceremony will be held every July 1 and October 1 at Wong Tai Sin Temple.
In addition, Sik Sik Yuen is organizing a series of activities to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the HKSAR, including an exhibition in late July, a lantern festival during the Mid-Autumn Festival in September, an open day on the National Day, and a religious and cultural festival in November.
