Woman nabbed in mainland China in court for organizing escape of alleged Abby Choi murderer
A woman nabbed by mainland authorities in connection with the murder in Hong Kong of socialite Abby Choi Tin-fung was granted bail at the Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts on Wednesday.
The woman Pun Hau-yin, 29, was handed over to Hong Kong officers at Shenzhen Bay Port yesterday. She was accused to have assisted Alex Kwong Kong-chi - the ex-husband of murdered Choi - in his attempted escape on February 24 by arranging a yacht for him.
It was learned that Pun is a KOL and also a friend of the sixth arrestee who was suspected of trying to help Alex Kwong flee Hong Kong by sea. She fled to the mainland after the case surfaced.
She was not required to enter plea this morning and the magistrate adjourned her case to May 8. She was granted a HK$50,000 cash bail and was banned from leaving Hong Kong. She must also surrender her travel documents and report to police twice every week.
The arrest of Pun brought the total number of people allegedly involved in the case to seven. She was escorted back to her home by the police officers yesterday afternoon to collect evidence in connection with the case.
Including the woman, police have arrested seven people so far. The other six are Choi's ex-husband Alex Kwong Kong-chi, 28; former father-in-law Kwong Kau, 65; former mother-in-law Jenny Li Sui-heung, 63; former brother-in-law Anthony Kwong Kong-kit, 31; Kwong Kau's 47-year-old mistress surnamed Ng; and 41-year-old Lam Shun - a staffer of a yacht company, also a friend of Choi’s ex-husband Alex Kwong Kong-chi.
