The private car was driven by a 27-year-old man and travelling along Tai Au Mun Road towards Kowloon at around 3.22 am. The car approaching Clear Water Bay Second Beach suddenly lost control and rammed into a lamppost.

The female passenger was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital after being unconscious and had multiple injuries. She was later certified dead at around 5 am.

The driver, who was wounded in his limbs, was conscious and sent to Tseung Kwan O Hospital. He was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.
