Woman arrested in Shek Kip Mei for cat-cooking horror
A 58-year-old woman was arrested after being witnessed holding a knife and a dead cat in Shek Kip Mei on Wednesday morning.
Police received a report at around 9.49 am that a female resident in Pak Tin Estate was holding a knife with possible animal hair strands on it. Officers searched the woman’s flat, before which she once refused to open the door, and seized a 32-cm-long knife and the cat that was found dead.
The woman, surnamed Cheung, was arrested as suspected of slaughtering any dog or cat for food.
Cheung said she found the cat carcass near Sham Shui Po on the same day and brought it home, attempting to cook it.
