Wife told helper 'sir wants you' before rape, court hears

A foreign domestic helper was told by her female employer that "sir wants you" before her husband threw her on a bed and raped her in 2018, she told a high court yesterday.
The Filipino helper also testified that the wife asked her to sleep with them while the couple was naked in bed.

The 48-year-old husband, Chan Chim-tak, pleads not guilty to rape and attempted rape, while his 36-year-old wife Lai Chi-san pleaded not guilty assisting in a rape and indecent assault.

The helper, who is in her early thirties, cried when testifying yesterday. Judge Alex Lee Wan-tang suspended the proceedings at one stage to allow her a rest.

She told the court that she had put the couple's eight-year-old daughter and one-year-old son to sleep on January 21, 2018.

Once she had put the sleeping baby in a crib in the couple's room, Lai, who was lying in bed naked with her husband, asked the helper to "sleep with them together."

Although the helper refused and returned to her room with the daughter, Lai sent text messages to her, saying "sir likes you" and "you like sir?"

Lai then came to the helper's room wrapped only in a towel and requested the helper to come to their room, saying: "Come, come sir wants you sir wants you, pay money."

She then took the helper by the wrist and dragged her to their room, becoming angry when the helper said she did not want to leave her own room.

The helper told the court in tears that she had no choice but to follow Lai's order eventually because she was in their employ.

After she went into the couple's room, Chan grabbed her, closed the door and threw her on the bed.

When the helper turned to Lai for help, the wife only said: "It's ok. It's ok."

For his part, Chan said "madam ok, madam ok" when the helper shouted for help.

He pressed her down and kissed her on the lips and breasts while removing her clothes.

He then performed oral sex on her before raping her.

Lai also gave Chan oral sex to help him get an erection, the helper said.

The couple was said to have ignored her cries for help and laughed at her.

During the rape, the couple talked in Cantonese while she tried to escape but failed.

She also told the court she felt pain when using the toilet after the rape and urinated blood.

The court has earlier heard that Chan gave the helper HK$150 and told her not to tell others about the incident. After the helper reported to the police, Chan admitted that he had sex with the helper but claimed it was just "a deal."

The hearing continues today.
