Music lovers who failed to get tickets for Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra concerts on October 24 and 25 may enjoy the performances by watching or listening to the live broadcast on RTHK, says the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
"To let more members of the public enjoy the spectacular performances of the orchestra, the LCSD has arranged live broadcasts of the two concerts at 8pm on RTHK TV32 and RTHK Radio 4," said the department.
Enthusiasts can also watch the concerts through the program website, it added.
The concerts are the first by a foreign orchestra in Hong Kong since the pandemic started almost three years ago.
Under the baton of world-acclaimed conductor Franz Welser-Most, the orchestra will perform Wagner's Prelude to Parsifal, WWV 111, Richard Strauss's Death and Transfiguration, Op 24 and Dvorak's Symphony No 8 in G, Op 88 in the first concert.
The program for the second concert includes Brahms's Tragic Overture, Op 81 and Symphony No 3 in F, Op 90, as well as Strauss's Thus Spoke Zarathustra, Op 30.
Tickets, from HK$380 to HK$1,980, were sold out in one day on Monday.
The Vienna Philharmonic last visited Hong Kong in 2011. Tickets were also sold out on the first day then.
In another event marking the opening of the city, organizers of the Hong Kong Sevens said they will collaborate with local bands and musicians to deliver outdoor performances in the three-day tournament.
"Many fans will be watching their first live music event in years," said Robbie McRobbie of the Rugby Union.
The Sevens will be held from November 4 to 6 at the Hong Kong Stadium.
