Up to three hours wait expected at Shenzhen Bay Port
The Hong Kong government urged travelers to go to Shenzhen Bay Control Point after 3pm as it is currently expected to wait for around three hours to undergo the special nucleic acid test (NAT) upon arrival.
As seen on Sunday morning, a large number of people flooded into the control point to wait for the NAT before going through the clearance procedures.
Based on the current passenger flow, it was expected to take about three hours for passengers to undergo special nucleic acid tests.
An online booking arrangement will be rolled out within this week for special nucleic acid testing services to facilitate departing passengers. Before that, the government will consider adopting appropriate crowd control measures in case of excessive passenger flow at the control point.
It will regularly announce the daily peak hours and estimated waiting times at the Shenzhen Bay Port for the reference of passengers.
In addition, the Shenzhen government said with immediate effect, the quarantine hotel room quotas will be allocated by system draw. Passengers who have successfully booked a room are not affected.
Under the new arrangement, visitors can apply for a reservation every day from 9am to 6pm, after which the system will conduct the draw and announce the results at 8pm.
Each user is allowed to get a quota once each round, while passengers can check the result through the announcement of the reservation system or reservation information. The process and announcement of the draw are notarized and supervised by a third-party organization.
At the same time, illegal activities including paying for reservations and publishing scalping information via online platforms will be handled seriously by the public security bureaux.
