Up to 200,000 movie lovers to benefit from discount tickets this Saturday
The chairman of the Hong Kong Theatres Association, Timothy Yuen Yin-man, expected some 200,000 movie lovers to benefit from the discount tickets on Cinema Day this Saturday - an event introduced under the “Happy Hong Kong” campaign.
As part of Saturday’s “Cinema Day 2023,” film fans will be able to buy tickets for HK$30 per head at 61 commercial theaters in Hong Kong.
The movie tickets will go on sale at 11 am on Thursday and can be purchased online or at the cinemas. Those who purchase online may have to pay an additional handling fee.
Yuen, also the general manager of Emperor Cinemas Group, said popular movies originally released during the Lunar New Year break and last year would also return to the big screen on Saturday to give customers more choices.
He noted that the chances of scalping were relatively low, and the company had no plans to implement a real-name ticketing system, such as those used at concerts.
Yuen also said the trade would discuss with authorities to regularly have more such events if the response is good.
