Unvaccinated teachers, school staff and visitors will be barred from all schools across the city starting February 24, the Education Bureau said on Thursday night.
The Education Bureau sent a letter to all schools in Hong Kong on Thursday and announced these arrangements as part of the extension of the “
vaccine bubble.”
Starting February 24, only teachers, non-teaching staff, service providers and visitors who have received at least one dose of
Covid-19
vaccine will be granted entry to all kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, and tutorial schools.
Staffers directly hired by the schools must receive the second dose before April 21.
The bureau stressed under all no circumstances are unvaccinated school staff allowed to conduct any teaching activities or perform any work online or outdoor during the periods when face-to-face classes are not suspended.
The bureau added the school management is responsible to handle disciplinary matters of staff according to the Employment Ordinance and Codes of Aid.
Meanwhile, unvaccinated people that are exempted from the arrangements will have to undergo compulsory testing every three days. The sample must be collected via the dual swab for nasal and throat.
The bureau added although the arrangements do not apply to students, they are advised to received the vaccination for more opportunity to join studying and extra-curricular activities.
The bureau also urged schools to keep the testing records and vaccination records of teachers and staff.
