Uni student arrested after following a secondary girl home

Police arrested a 20-year-old male student yesterday who stalked a secondary one girl to her home at Lai Tsui Court in Cheung Sha Wan and even rang her doorbell.
According to police, the incident took place around 2pm last Friday. The man, a student of a tertiary education institution, was tailing the 12-year-old girl who was heading home alone at that time. As she entered a building at Lai Tsui Court and got into the elevator, the man followed as well.

In the elevator the man told the girl there was a spider on her backpack but she ignored him. The man kept tailing the girl as they got out of the elevator. The man also asked the girl for the location of the back staircase. The girl then pointed him the direction and returned to her home immediately.

However, the man rang the doorbell of the girl home, saying he was searching for someone. He soon fled away after the girl's grandmother, instead of the girl herself, answered the door. The girl and her grandmother later decided to file a report to police.

After investigation, officers arrested the man for loitering yesterday at his home in Tuen Mun. He is still remanded for questioning.

Officers pointed out that the girl does not know the man. They also believed that the man targets at young girls like the 12-year-old in this case, adding that the school he goes to is in Cheung Sha Wan as well.
