Two women arrested over ‘nut-cracking’ gold necklace robberies
Two women were arrested on Wednesday after they allegedly tried to lure a man by offering massage services in order to rob him, a day after two elders fell victim to similar crimes and lost their gold necklaces.
The arrests came as a male pedestrian spotted two Putonghua-speaking women approaching an older man outside Heng Yuet House, Heng On Estate in Ma On Shan around 9.30 am this morning.
Worrying the women were trying to rob the gold necklace of the elderly man, the pedestrian called the police, and officers soon came and intercepted the duo.
The two were then arrested and taken away by police as they admitted their involvement in a robbery on Tung Sing Road in Aberdeen.
Sources said the pedestrian first saw the two women dressed in black approaching men nearby. The two also closely interacted with another man; all three spoke Putonghua. Suspecting the trio was related to two gold necklace robberies yesterday, the pedestrian then called the police.
On Tuesday morning, an 89-year-old man named Ko filed a police report and said two middle-aged women robbed him of a gold necklace worth HK$30,000.
The two women approached Ko on Wuhu Street in Hung Hom and lured him to a nearby building, where one grabbed Ko by his testicles, and another robbed Ko’s necklace.
A similar robbery occurred around 6 pm, as a 60-year-old man was also approached by two women offering massage services.
Kwok followed the duo to the back staircases of Heng On Wet Market, where he was attacked the same way Ko was attacked. Kwok lost a gold necklace worth HK$25,000 as well.
