Two to appear in court over "seditious” sheep books
Two women, aged 25 and 27, will appear in West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts in the afternoon as they were charged with printing seditious publications for the sheep books they published.
The two women are chair of the union Lorie Lai Man-ling and vice-chairwoman Melody Yeung Yat-yee.
They were charged with printing, publishing, distributing, displaying or reproducing seditious publications under the Crimes Ordinance.
The other three arrested – secretary Sidney Ng Hau-yee, treasurer Samuel Chan Yuen-sum and committee member Marco Fong Tsz-ho – were remanded for further investigation.
Yesterday the five officers of the General Union of Hong Kong Speech Therapists were arrested for publishing three picture books that allegedly “incite young children’s hatred towards the SAR government.”
The three books are entitled Guardians of the Sheep Village, 12 Warriors of the Sheep Village and Scavengers of the Sheep Village.
National security police arrested them for suspicion of conspiring to publish seditious material, saying those picture books beautify crime, incite hatred and poison the moral values of young children.
Records showed that the union was founded in November 2019, aiming to “defend justice, unite the industry, foster communication and fight for rights and interests.”
Yesterday superintendent Steve Li Kwai-wah of the police national security department slammed the suspects for taking advantages of their profession to poison children and parents with biased anti-government thoughts.
