Two thousand strong tour group visits Hong Kong with many willing to spend big
A 2,000-member business delegation from the mainland visited Hong Kong for an overnight trip on Tuesday, with some saying they were ready to spend HK$100,000 on shopping.
The tourists came from various provinces, including Shaanxi, Hunan, and Hubei, and arrived via Liantang / Heung Yuen Wai port this morning. They first enjoyed poon choi at Sha Tau Kok and then headed to AsiaWorld-Expo for some meetings.
One of the tourists from Hubei, surnamed Wang, said this is his third time visiting Hong Kong. He decided to stay over for a week and was ready to spend HK$100,000 on luxuries like jewelry and gold.
Wang added that the "No Fakes Pledge" Scheme in the city enhanced his confidence and strengthened the city's reputation as a "Shopping Paradise."
Another delegation member surnamed Zhong, planned to buy a high-end watch worth around HK$100,000 and looking forward to visiting various popular attractions.
It was learned that the group would start their sightseeing and shopping on the second day, including visiting the Avenue of Stars and the Wong Tai Sin Temple. In order to avoid overcrowding, the delegation will visit different restaurants in Kowloon and Hong Kong Island for meals.
