Two MTR stations to be introduced on Tuen Mun South extension
Two new MTR stations will be built on the Tuen Mun South extension, connecting Tuen Mun town center with the Tuen Ma Line, according to a document sent to district councilors.
Their construction is expected to start in 2023, to be completed around 2030.
The document on the extension's design was submitted to Tuen Mun District Council by MTR Corp and the Highways Department.
It shows a station tentatively named “A16,” which will be located near Tuen Mun Swimming Pool.
Another station is “Tuen Mun South,” which will be on Wu King Road, Tuen Mun. It will be the new terminus for the extension.
Some of the community facilities affected by the project will be demolished and relocated, including the Tuen Mun Swimming Pool which will be rebuilt at the practice lawn of the Tuen Mun Golf Centre.
Hoi Wong Road Garden will be relocated to government land to the east of the Tuen Mun River (Eastern Bank) Garden.
The Green@Tuen Mun community recycling station will be moved to a green belt site on Lung Chak Road, near a bridge on Lung Fu Road.
MTRCL said that an environmental impact assessment is being conducted, which is scheduled to be submitted to the Environmental Protection Department early next year.
