Two knife attacks in four hours in Mong Kok and Yuen Long; four people hospitalized
Four people were sent to hospital on Saturday following two knife attacks that occurred within four hours in Mong Kok and Yuen Long.
The first attack took place around 3am at Sai Yee Street Garden where an 18-year-old teen surnamed Wu was chatting with another 15-year-old boy and two other young girls of similar age.
Five local men and a South Asian, two of whom were wielding knives, suddenly attacked the teens and Wu sustained injuries to his left shoulder and right wrist. Wu, bleeding and on the run, then sought help from officers from police’s Emergency Unit as he reached Nathan Road opposite Argyle Street.
Wu was then sent to hospital in a conscious state. The two young girls, unharmed but shocked, were later located by cops and were sent to hospital as well.
Police didn’t find the 15-year-old boy and the attackers were long gone already. Police believed the case, listed as wounding, may involve grudges between triad societies.
The second attack occurred at around 7.08am when a couple was outside Shing Fat Industrial Building on Tai Lee Street. Two knife-wielding attackers jumped out of a white private car and slashed a 27-year-old construction worker surnamed Lee.
Lee, outnumbered at the time, sustained multiple injuries to his limbs and body. The two assailants then got back into the car and escaped, heading towards Long Ping Estate. The case was then reported to police by other drivers passing by the scene.
It was understood that Lee and his girlfriend started dating not long ago and the girlfriend earlier had a heated fight with her ex-boyfriend.
The case is now handled by Yuen Long district anti-triad unit and police are now hunting down two local men, standing at about 1.7m with a medium build. They were dressed in black during the crime.
