Two engineers aged 33 and 49 have been arrested in connection with the rape of a 27-year-old bar hopper in a Wan Chai hotel on Christmas day.
Police said the woman reported on Boxing Day being raped by two strangers in the early hours that day.
Sources said the woman, who graduated from a university in the United Kingdom in 2018, partied with friends in Central on Sunday night.
She had a few drinks at a bar before switching to another club around 4.30am. By the time she left the club around 5am, she was drunk and soon lost sense of what was happening.
It is understood that she eventually woke up around 9.30am and found herself naked in a hotel room with two male strangers.
She frantically got dressed and left the hotel room. Accompanied by a friend, she lodged a report in the early hours of Monday. She was sent to Queen Mary Hospital.
Officers went through closed-circuit television footage and saw her being dragged by the 49-year-old suspect, Cheung, into a cab near a taxi stand in Pedder Street.
Sources said hotel footage showed the unconscious woman then being taken to a room on the 19th floor by Cheung and the 33-year-old suspect, Lam.
Lam was arrested in Wong Tai Sin and Cheung in Tuen Mun on Monday night.
The two, claiming to be engineers, have been charged with rape and will appear in the Eastern magistrates' courts today.
That came as officers arrested a female teenager and a woman for using other people's
vaccine passes over the holiday.
On Monday night, officers took an 18-year-old female Wong into custody while carrying out checks at a restaurant on Shanghai Street, Yau Ma Tei. Wong failed to produce a valid
vaccine pass and was arrested.
The 36-year-old male operator of the Shanghai Street restaurant was also arrested for failing to check
vaccine passes. The restaurant was ordered to close for 14 days.
Both suspects have been released on bail pending further investigation. They must report to police late next month.
In another inspection in Tsim Sha Tsui on Monday night, a 32-year-old bar patron, Leung, was arrested for misleading police officers and violating the
