TV drama director sentenced 10 months in jail over blackmailing woman to be sex slave
Hong Kong's renowned TV drama director was sentenced to 10 months behind bars over a photo sextortion as he forced a nightclub hostess to be his sex slave.
Law Chun-wai, the 43-year-old director of TVB drama Legal Mavericks and ViuTV's Rope a dope, faced his sentence in Kowloon City Magistrates' Court on Wednesday after he pleaded guilty to a count of threatened publication of intimate images without consent.
According to the court, Law met a nightclub hostess in January last year and have sex with her twice at his home in Bay View Garden, Wong Tai Sin.
Law then sent messages with the victim's nude photos to her via WhatsApp on March 26 and threatened her to be his sex slave or he would release her pictures.
Law further asked the victim to take more pictures of her private parts and forced her to bring other women to serve, the court learned, which led the victim to report to the police and Law was then arrested.
During the police's inquiry, Law previously claimed he was drunk when conducting the sextortion on the victim and had no intention to publish the photos.
Today in court, Acting Principal Magistrate Peony Wong Nga-yan slammed Law's actions as "foul and shameless." She noted that Law was apparently in a conscious state during the blackmail of the victim, as listing multiple requirements and threatening her, which was totally against his statement that he was "drunk."
Given Law's plea, the judge ruled his sentence of imprisonment was reduced from 15 months to 10 months.
