Tung Chung building named in compulsory testing notice as HK sees nine imported cases

Hong Kong on Sunday reported nine imported Covid-19 cases, including one man who was in Hong Kong during the incubation period, triggering compulsory testing at the Visionary in Tung Chung.
A 46-year-old man who is a local aircrew member lived at Tower 3 of the Visionary in Tung Chung. He tested negative for Covid-19 on December 19 and 20.

He departed Hong Kong on December 22 for the United States and returned to Hong Kong on December 25 from the US by flight CX845. He was tested positive for the N501Y mutant strain upon arrival.

As a prudent measure, the places where he resided and visited in Hong Kong during the incubation period have been included in a compulsory testing notice.

According to the compulsory testing notice, anyone who had been to Tower 3 of the Visionary in Tung Chung for more than 2 hours at any time during the period from December 8 to December 25 has to undergo testing by December 28.

As for the eight other imported cases, they included a 43-year-old woman who arrived in Hong Kong from Pakistan by flight TK083 via Turkey on December 24. She was asymptomatic and was tested positive for the L452R mutant strain upon arrival.

A 19-year-old woman arrived in Hong Kong from the US by flight AC015 via Canada on December 24. She was asymptomatic and was found carrying mutant strains N501Y and T478K.

A 42-year-old man arrived in Hong Kong from Nigeria by flight ET608 via Ethiopia on December 22. He was asymptomatic and was tested positive for mutant strains N501Y and T478K at Penny's Bay Quarantine Centre.

Another 31-year-old man arrived in Hong Kong from South Africa by flight ET608 via Ethiopia on December 22. He was asymptomatic and was tested positive at Penny's Bay Quarantine Centre.

A 26-year-old woman arrived in Hong Kong from France by flight KL819 via the Netherlands on December 24. She was asymptomatic and was tested positive for mutant strains N501Y and T478K upon arrival.

A 57-year-old woman arrived in Hong Kong from South Africa by flight ET608 via Ethiopia on December 22. She developed symptoms on December 24 and was tested positive at Penny's Bay Quarantine Centre

A 26-year-old woman arrived in Hong Kong from Pakistan by flight EK384 via the United Arab Emirates on December 22. She was asymptomatic and was tested positive for mutant strains N501Y and T478K at Ramada Hong Kong Harbour View in Sai Ying Pun.

The remaining case was a 21-year-old woman who arrived in Hong Kong from Germany and Ireland via flight LH796 on December 20.

She was a close contact of an imported case confirmed previously - a 20-year-old woman arrived from Germany and Ireland and confirmed on December 24.

She had previously been infected in Ireland in June. She was asymptomatic and was tested positive at Penny's Bay Quarantine Centre.

In addition, specified persons in relation to On Hei House of Siu Hei Court in Tuen Mun are reminded to undergo compulsory testing iby Monday.

The notice was issued following a 64-year-old male toilet cleaner who worked at the airport and lived at On Hei House.

He has to undergo frequent regular Covid-19 testing and his specimen collected on December 22 tested preliminarily positive. He developed symptoms on the same day and was confirmed on December 24.
