Trio lured 83-year-old man with chess endgame in Rolex robbery
An 83-year-old man was robbed of his Rolex watch worth about HK$30,000 at a sitting-out area in Mong Kok on Monday, after he was lured to participate in a chess endgame by three men.
A police patrol was alerted of the incident by the 83-year-old at around 11.44am this morning, with the victim claiming three men aged between 50-60 have robbed him of his Rolex watch at a sitting out area near the intersection of Sai Yee Street and Soy Street.
Officers were told that the three men were setting up a chess endgame at the scene when the trio suddenly grab hold of him and took his watch before fleeing the scene.
The 83-year-old was uninjured and later boarded a police patrol car to canvass the area with the officers.
