Tricor sharpens its professional client-centric services through innovative in-house training programs

Tricor Hong Kong, Asia’s leading business development specialist, is the preferred partner in corporate services, thanks to its ingenious in-house training program - “Tricorians in the Floow”.

Boasting the largest corporate governance team in Hong Kong, Tricor offers comprehensive and professional solutions to a diverse range of corporates, from startups to publicly-listed companies. It has served over 10,000 clients across industries, including more than half of Hong Kong and mainland China’s listed companies.

Tricor initiated “Tricorians in the Floow” talent development program in 2021, with an extra “o” in “flow” referring to the optimal state of mind in which Tricorians feel and perform their best, and always go the extra mile to make a difference.

The two-pronged program aims to strengthen staff capabilities in technical know-how and business development, and to formulate a clear career development blueprint for them so as to ignite their passion for work and cope with corporate developments and market challenges.

“In addition to professional knowledge, every Tricorian should have a Client centric mindset, which is what Tricorians in the Floow is all about,” says Joe Wan, Chief Executive Officer of Tricor Hong Kong.

“The nine-month training program consists of two parts: professional knowledge and core competencies,” explains Bono Lee, Head of Human Resources and Administration at Tricor.

The part on professional knowledge is taught by the department manager and covers all the essentials like listing rules, company regulations, securities and futures regulations, preparation of announcements and reports of listed companies, arrangements for company board of directors and shareholder meetings.

On the other hand, the part on core competencies includes consultative sales and feedback skills which are reinforced through role play, experiential activities and management sharing.

To ensure its effectiveness, a pilot program was first implemented together with a Train the Trainer program to train up course ambassadors and instructors who help provide input during course design with real-life cases studies, Lee elaborates.

Nurturing leaders of tomorrow

In response to changing health requirements, courses are held with flexibility, combining online and offline workshops, lectures, one-on-one training, internships and personal learning.

Both face-to-face classroom and the Yammer online interactive platform are used to facilitate exchange of professional knowledge among colleagues and access to the latest industry information and thematic discussions by guest speakers.

To build up a team of corporate governance leaders, high potential employees are given a tailor-made personal development plan based on their expertise and development direction.

The first batch of trainees has completed the program with outstanding results: they take the initiative to understand customer needs, conduct multi-faceted analysis and provide appropriate solutions, fully demonstrating the professional capabilities and performance that corporate governance consultants should have, making Tricor the preferred corporate governance and business development partner.
