Hong Kong athletes made history in this year's Tokyo Olympic Games by winning one gold and two silver medals for the city. To celebrate athletes' great achievement, the tram company is planning to offer all Hong Kong people free rides for a whole week,

The company also proposed to hold a victory parade for athletes who successfully snatched medals in Tokyo.

The parade is expected to be held in August and September, pending government approval.

The tram company will also host celebration events with a number of brands, which includes offering tram-themed accessories, setting up pop-up stores and staging photo exhibitions, to promote the authentic culture of Hong Kong's tram.

On another note, Hong Kong Tramways has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the “Largest double-decker tram fleet in service."

According to Frank Chan Fan, Secretary for Transport and Housing, trams have been serving the city for 117 years and it is one of the earliest public transportation.
