Authorities are working on a simpler version of the LeaveHomeSafe contact tracing app, the IT office said, after receiving overwhelming complaints from elderly citizens who faced tech difficulties.
From Monday, government premises including wet markets, libraries and public sports facilities required visitors to scan the LeaveHomeSafe QR code with their smartphones or leave their personal details on paper.
But many seniors who are unfamiliar with smartphones found it difficult to adapt, with some filing complaints with the Equal Opportunities Commission.
Hong Kong yesterday recorded three imported cases from the United States and the United Kingdom, all of whom have been fully vaccinated but infected by the L452R mutant strain, likely to be the Delta variant. One of the cases involved a 62-year-old male worker at the Hong Kong Football Club, who lived in block 21, Baguio Villa, Pok Fu Lam. He travelled to the UK on October 16 and flew back on Monday. Although he was classified as an imported case, his workplace and residential building have been added to the mandatory test list.
The Centre for Food Safety yesterday also announced that samples of frozen cuttlefish imported from Malaysia tested positive for
Covid-19.
The batch of 3,100 kilogram cuttlefish has been stored at Kerry TC Warehouse in Kwai Chung and has not entered the market.
Separately, the Hong Kong International Airport is said to be planning to separate passengers from mainland flights from international travelers to prevent cross-infection.
