To Kwa Wan restaurant urged to step up crowd control measures over mainland tours
The operator of a restaurant on Sung On Street in To Kwa Wan was urged by the Travel Industry Authority (TIA) to step up crowd management measures, as mainland tourists were still spotted waiting in groups outside and blocking the streets.
This restaurant and another on To Kwa Wan Road started implementing crowd management measures on Wednesday after being instructed by the authorities, as neighbours complained about the streets being blocked by tourists waiting for their turn to have lunch.
Some also voiced concerns that many coach buses were illegally parked on the roads.
TIA said the situation was greatly improved for the To Kwa Wan Road restaurant after staffers inspected during lunch hours today, with diners seated orderly and streets remaining clear.
Yet, tourists were still seen gathering outside the Sung On Road restaurant this afternoon.
The TIA said they have reminded the operator to step up the crowd control measures, including reducing the number of tours and scattering the appointments to different time slots.
It will closely monitor the situation of the two restaurants and others that also serve the mainland tours, TIA added.
