Three teachers at The Harbour School in Ap Lei Chau have been tested positive in a small outbreak triggered by the Ursus Fitness cluster.
The school saw two confirmed cases and a preliminary positive case, in which one is linked to the gym cluster, as the city reported 24 new confirmed cases including 10 untraceable ones.
The outbreak originated from an IT teacher of The Harbour School, who is also a customer at Ursus Fitness. An art teacher, who had contact and was in the same classroom with that teacher, was tested preliminary positive.
The three teachers were sent to quarantine, as well as 35 students and 6 teaching assistants listed as close contacts.
The school has to suspend classes for 14 days.
For the 24 cases confirmed today, they were aged between 5 and 67. There are also around 20 preliminary positive cases, with at least one untraceable.
Ten of the confirmed cases went to the Ursus Fitness cluster, including 6 customers and 4 close contacts. The cluster now sees 109 confirmed cases in total, including 7 staffers, 81 customers and 21 close contacts.
Centre for Health Protection has sent 750 close contacts to quarantine and issued a compulsory testing order to around 1,900 family members of the close contacts.
Among the other cases was a girl aged 5 who lives in Shek Wu Wai, Yuen Long. She is studying K2 in Sun Island Kindergarten Yuen Long Branch and her last school day is March 5. She felt sick on March 6 and headed to Hong Kong Adventist Hospital on March 12. Her father was also infected, after tested positive on March 13.
A primary 6 student of Kowloon Tong Government Primary School aged 12 was also infected with unknown sources. His last school day is March 5. He fell sick on March 11 and tested positive on March 12.
The school has to suspend classes for 14 days and all students and teachers have to undergo virus tests.
The boy lives at block 2 of Hong Sing Garden in Tseung Kwan O. His father fell sick on March 13 and tested preliminary positive. His father works at Li & Fung (Fashion Accessories) Ltd in Lai Chi Kok and his last day to work is March 12.
A couple aged 67 who live at Diamond Building on Nam Cheong Street are infected as well. The husband is a worker at Kowloon True Light School. The school also has to suspend classes for 14 days.
His wife is a housewife and has visited Pei Ho Street Market. Their flat is on the same floor as a previous case but is not located next to it.
