Three arrested in Choi Hung over HK$8.6m heroin bust
A Japanese chef, a mother, and a son were arrested on Thursday after police raided their flat in Choi Wan Estate and found some 9.2 kg of heroin worth about HK$8.6 million.
Officers from Tseung Kwan O special duties team conducted the operation after receiving intelligence that the flat at Boon Yuet House was used as a drug warehouse.
Cops first intercepted a 52-year-old Japanese man leaving that flat and escorted him back in, where they found the heroin, weighing 9.2 kg and worth about HK$8.6 million.
Police also seized some drug packaging tools and about HK$1.4 million of cash.
Police then arrested the Japanese man, as well as his 55-year-old girlfriend and her 20-year-old son, for trafficking in a dangerous drug.
Tseung Kwan O police said the woman rented the flat, and they believed they had smashed the drug warehouse for good, stopping heroin from infiltrating the local market.
