Thirty-three people wanted; 25 jump bail after arrested over social unrest
Thirty-three people among over 10,000 arrested over the social unrest in 2019 are now wanted after missing court hearings.
Data released also revealed that as of December last year, 25 people had jumped bail and didn’t report to the police as ordered.
The figures came as lawmaker Steven Ho Chun-yin asked police how many people had been arrested and had jumped bail since the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law.
A total of 10,279 were arrested in connection to the mass protests that started in June 2019.
Police said they strongly condemn anyone who jumps bail to escape their legal consequences.
Police added officers would put the utmost effort into hunting down these fugitives in accordance with actual circumstances.
