The Hong Kong Streetathon, a popular running event, is set to return after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.
The event will take place on December 17 and is expected to attract thousands of runners from all over the world.
The Hong Kong Streetathon is organized by RunOurCity and sponsored by Kerry Properties.
This year's event will feature a 42-kilometer marathon, a 21-kilometer cross-harbor half marathon, a 10-kilometer run across the Tseung Kwan O Cross Bay Link and the Tseung Kwan O-Lam Tin Tunnel, as well as the "Streetathon Asia Youthrun 10k 2023" event.
The event is part of the Tourism Board's "Pilot Scheme for Characteristic Local Tourism Events" and aims to promote Hong Kong's tourism image and attract more runners to the city from overseas.
Andes Leung Pak-hang, CEO and co-founder of RunOurCity, expressed his excitement for the event, saying, "After 10 years of perseverance, overcoming the challenges posed by the pandemic, and with the active support of various government departments, the business community, and numerous non-government organizations, our dream has come true at the 8th Hong Kong Streetathon." The Hong Kong Streetathon will collaborate with various charity organizations and NGOs, including RunOurCity's "Youth.ALL" and "BEE Family Coach" programs, Blind Sports Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Network for the Promotion of Inclusive Society, RUN Hong Kong, Teen's Key Hong Kong, the Peak Hunter Foundation, VolTra, Buddhist Fat Ho Memorial College, Hong Kong Stretching Exercise Association,
Pegasus Athletic Club, and Running Man Athletic Club.
These partnerships aim to advocate for the seven United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, including good health and well-being, gender equality, reduced inequalities, sustainable cities and communities, responsible consumption and production, climate action, and partnerships for the goals.
