Taxi lost control and hit pedestrians in Fortress Hill, 5 injured
Five people were injured after a taxi lost control in Fortress Hill at midday on Sunday, two of them were unconscious.
The taxi was driving down the slope of Fortress Hill Road at around 1 pm today and suddenly lost control, hitting three pedestrians and smashing a lamppost.
Five people, including the 84-year-old taxi driver and a passenger, were injured and rushed to the hospital. Two of the injured, a 59-year-old local woman surnamed Chu and a 48-year-old South Asian woman, were in unconscious state.
The taxi was severely damaged on its front. The driver claimed that the accident was caused by brake failure.
Part of the lanes of King's Road (Quarry Bay bound) near Power Street was once closed to all traffic.
The eastbound tram services between Fortress Hill and Quarry Bay, and the westbound tram services between Quarry Bay and Yee Wo Street are also suspended.
