Task Force on Northern Metropolis Development holds first meeting in Shenzhen
Officials from Hong Kong and Shenzhen discussed the collaboration in the Northern Metropolis, including cross-boundary transport and planning of control points, amid the first task force meeting held in Shenzhen on Monday.
Michael Wong Wai-lun, the Deputy Financial Secretary of Hong Kong, led a delegation to Shenzhen and met with vice mayor Huang Min.
Both sides introduced the development plans relevant to the Northern Metropolis and exchanged views on various aspects including cross-boundary transportation, control points arrangement, development of Qianhai, works at the Lok Ma Chau Loop and so on.
Officials of the SAR government attending the meeting today included the Secretary for Development Bernadette Linn Hon-ho; Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Erick Tsang Kwok-wai; Secretary for Environment and Ecology Tse Chin-wan; Secretary for Transport and Logistics Lam Sai-hung and the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Christopher Hui Ching-yu.
The delegation also visited the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone after the meeting.
Under the Guangdong-Hong Kong and Hong Kong-Shenzhen cooperation mechanism, the government has set up the Task Force for Collaboration on the Northern Metropolis Development Strategy to strengthen liaison and coordination between Hong Kong and the mainland on matters related to the Northern Metropolis.
