The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) said Wednesday that one surface sample of imported mango from Taiwan was found to be positive for the COVID-19 virus. CFS has instructed to stop sale, remove from shelves the affected products, and dispose of the mango of the same batch.
CFS said in view of the recent test results in Macao, a batch of 33 cartons of mangoes (total of around 200 kg) from Taiwan was held and nine samples were collected for testing.
The testing reports from the Department of Health on Wednesday showed that one mango surface sample was found to be positive for the virus.
CFS instructed the distributor concerned to stop sale, remove from shelves the affected products, and dispose of the mango of the same batch. In addition, the CFS has inspected the warehouse and asked the operator to conduct thorough cleaning and disinfection.
