Suspect in chainsaw murder of woman in Yuen Long on the run
Police are investigating a murder case in Yuen Long late Saturday night and a chainsaw with blood on it was found nearby.
Officers received a call yesterday at 7.26 pm that a woman was found lying in blood on the sidewalks at Yuen Long Kam Pok Road East.
The victim had suffered stab wounds in her neck and back and was declared dead at scene.
The body of the 54-year-old victim, surnamed Lau, was taken to the morgue early this morning at 3 am. Her cause of death is pending a forensic autopsy.
A chainsaw, a 30-cm long beef knife and a pair of gloves were seized near the crime scene, with the Food and Hygiene Department sending out cleaning vehicles to clean up the blood on the street.
Due to the extent of injuries discovered on the deceased body, the police have not ruled out the possibility that the victim faced harsh treatment during her assault.
The case was classified as murder and investigation by the District Crime Squad of Yuen Long District is underway.
