Student gets community service order for Mong Kok road-jamming

An 18-year-old was sentenced to 120 hours of community service at the Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts today for placing a bag of garbage on the driveway of Shantung Street in Mong Kok on March 10 last year.
Chow Tin-ho pleaded guilty to one count of obstruction of public place.

He was charged with committing an act whereby obstruction may occur in traffic while appearing today before magistrate Cheng Lim-chi.

Cheng said taking into account Chow’s guilt plea, along with the student having to take the HKDSE exam next month, therefore handing the boy a non-custodial sentence.

The writ stated that on March 10 last year, there are calls on the internet urging people to patronize shops and businesses in Mong Kok that support the anti-government protests. Chow and two others were found picking up garbage bags and place them on the driveway of Shantung Street in Mong Kok later that night.
