Lion Rock Tunnel's New Electronic Auto-Toll System Debuts with Smooth Start
The operation of a new electronic auto-toll system at the Lion Rock Tunnel on its first day was mostly smooth, with about 47,000 vehicles passing through and only four cases of inquiries and complaints reported.
The Transport Department supervised the tunnel's initiation, and the operator was able to handle the traffic queue.
The tunnel was reduced to three lanes from previously six or seven, causing some confusion.
The HKeToll system will be implemented in other tunnels in the future, including the Tate's Cairn, Tate's Cairn, and Tai Lam Tunnels.
