Police are investigating after a man was found dead in his public housing unit in Sha Tin by Housing Authority officers.
The skeletal remains of the 69-year-old man, surnamed Lee, were found this morning at around 10 am. Police believe he has been deceased for roughly eight months.
The staff of the Housing Authority went to the flat after Lee had failed to pay the rent since September. However, no one answered the door, and the security guard reported to the police for assistance.
Authorities said Lee was found lying on the ground and in the advanced stage of decomposition. Due to the extent of his decomposition, whether he sustained any injuries before his death is unknown.
There were no signs of a break-in or ransacking.
Sources said Li lived alone in the flat and he was receiving Comprehensive Social Security Assistance.
The case was listed as a body found, and the coroner will determine the cause of death.
