Another 21-year-old man was on Tuesday arrested over the Tuen Mun birthday murder that occurred early this month, bringing the number of arrestees to six in total.
A row broke out when deceased 22-year-old Leung Wing-kai was celebrating his birthday with friends at a Tuen Mun restaurant on Tsing Ling Path on August 6. He sustained a severe injury to his head after someone assaulted him with a hard object during the row.
He fell unconscious, and his brain stem died as he was rushed to the hospital. Two days later, his family pulled the oxygen tube, and Leung passed away.
The case – originally an assault – was then listed as murder, and five people aged 17 to 32 were subsequently arrested by police.
On Tuesday, police arrested the sixth person in connection to the case – a 21-year-old man. He has been charged with murder and three counts of wounding. The case will be mentioned at Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts on Thursday morning.
The case is now handled by Tuen Mun district anti-triad section team 1. Police added more arrests may be made in the future.
Officers also urged citizens who have witnessed the case or have any information to offer to contact them by dialing 6148 1800.
