Six more patients infected with Influenza A as Siu Lam Hospital cluster expands
Six more patients from a male ward for severe intellectual disability in Siu Lam Hospital were infected with Influenza A, a spokesman for the hospital said on Saturday.
This followed earlier announcements that a total of nine patients aged 25 to 64 developed respiratory symptoms and tested positive for Influenza A.
The six additional patients were aged 48 to 71, the spokesman said, adding that they are now being treated under isolation and are in stable condition.
Admission to the ward has been suspended and visiting is restricted. The spokesman noted that the hospital has also stepped up infection control measures according to established guidelines.
All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.
The spokesman said the cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
