Six League of Social Democrats members' residences searched by national security police
Six members of the League of Social Democrats had their premises searched by the National Security Department even though the league earlier stated they will not organize any protests on July 1.
Chairwoman Chan Po-ying said in a statement on Tuesday that the national security police had made contact with some of their volunteers and friends, and after evaluating the situation, the league would not be organizing any protests this Friday.
As of Thursday, Chan said the national security police had brought search warrants to search the premises of her and five other members.
The five members included Raphael Wong Ho-ming, Avery Ng Man-yuen, Tsang Kin-shing, Dickson Chau Ka-fat and Yu Wai-pan.
Chan continued that the police did not take away any items, but they were then taken to different police stations to be interviewed.
She reiterated that after assessing the situation, the league will not be organizing any protests on July 1.
