Six injured by wooden boards blown off footbridge in Sha Tin
Six people were injured by multiple wooden boards that collapsed on a footbridge connecting Shatin Plaza and Shatin Centre on Wednesday morning when the Amber Rainstorm Signal was still in effect.
The incident occurred around 11 am when the intense winds blew down the wooden boards, measuring about 10 meters by three meters, which were fixed to the corridor's railing.
Six passersby were caught off guard and hit by the boards that came down while walking along the footbridge.
They sustained minor injuries, and a man and three women were sent to Prince of Wales Hospital. The remaining man and woman refused to be hospitalized.
The footbridge passage was later cordoned off as security guards there instructed passersby to use other connecting footbridges.
At around 1 pm, workers were spotted removing the wooden boards containing exposed screws.
