The elder sister of beauty pageant winner Carmaney Wong Ka-man was released on bail pending her trial after she allegedly put her cat in a washing machine and then turned the appliance on.
Insurance agent Yuki Wong Yee-ting, 28, was charged with animal abuse for treating a cat cruelly and causing it unnecessary pain on February 7 in a Tin Chak Estate flat in Tin Shui Wai. She allegedly uploaded a 14-second video of the incident onto her Instagram.
She appeared in Tuen Mun magistrates' court on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty.
Her trial was scheduled for January 11 next year. She was granted bail of HK$500.
Prosecution said it will summon four witnesses, including a vet. Defense said it will dispute how police collected evidence of her case.
Carmaney Wong was crowned Miss Hong Kong in 2019.
Those who breach the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Ordinance face up to three years in jail and a HK$200,000 fine.
