Shops close ahead of unauthorised rallies

A number of malls and shops around the city remain to be closed today, as anti-government protesters call for more demonstrations in Causeway Bay this afternoon.
A rally will be held in Victoria Park to show support for an Indonesian journalist who's been blinded in one eye after apparently being hit by a police projectile, while people also plan to march in protest of the anti-mask law. The demonstrations have not received authorisation from the police.

The Sogo department store, Fashion Walk and World Trade Centre in Causeway Bay will be closed, as well as the IFC mall in Central.

Some shops in the area are still open for business, but will close early as a precaution.

Meanwhile, other malls in Kowloon and New Territories, such as Amoy Plaza in Kowloon Bay and Citylink Plaza in Sha Tin, will also be closed.

Quote of the Day

“This last is important. Even in corporate environments, it is very difficult to remove an underling for incompetence if that underling has seniority and a long history of good performance reviews. As in government bureaucracies, the easiest way to deal with such people is often to “kick them upstairs”: promote them to a higher post, where they become somebody else’s problem.”
