Shocking moment as wild boar walks away from hit and run unscathed
A wild boar was seen running into an intersection and being hit by a car, causing the poor beast to be flung into the air before falling to the ground and struggling for a while before standing up and simply walking away.
According to an online video on social media, the boar rushed into the road from the right side of the intersection before being hit by a private white car at high speed and thrown into the air.
The boar fell to the ground struggling before crashing into a barricade, during which the driver did not slow down but drove away.
However, as the video clip showed, the boar stood up after a few seconds and quickly walked away as if nothing had happened.
Netizens expressed their sympathy in comments for the driver, saying, “it was really difficult to stop the car in time at such a fast speed to dodge the wild boar."
But some netizens also accused the driver of showing no mercy for abandoning the boar.
According to Hong Kong laws, a driver should stop the vehicle if an accident occurs and causes damage to an animal - including any cat, dog, horse, cattle, ass, mule, sheep, pig, or goat - or may face a maximum penalty of one year's imprisonment and HK$10,000 in fine. However, wild boars are not explicitly covered by the definition of "animals."
