An escalator at MTR’s Tai Koo Station malfunctioned on Tuesday with its steps became dislodged while no one was injured.
According to pictures posted by a passenger on
Facebook at around 4pm, the steps of the escalator piled up like domino tiles, and it was fenced off by MTR staff.
Luckily no one was hurt in the incident and the cause is under investigation.
Previously on November 12 last year, the top step of an escalator at Tsim Sha Tsui Station broke apart and multiple steps cracked. The escalator was kept running with metal fragments scattered around.
The MTR Corporation claimed afterward that the malfunction was caused by a passenger’s shoe getting stuck between the steps.
Later on the following day at around 11.45 am, another escalator in Chai Wan Station reported malfunctioning with its steps cracked and piled together on its top.
