The incident occurred around 10.30 am this morning when the truck belonging to Wellcome supermarket was turning left from Chun Kwong Street into Chun Cheong Street.

The runaway truck then hit a route 98 KMB bus, traveling in the opposite direction, right outside the Sing Tao News Corp Building, and tipped to its right-hand side following the collision.

The bus was pushed onto the sidewalk and stopped after hitting the railing.

The truck driver was once trapped within but was later rescued by firefighters. Two male workers onboard sustained scratches and could crawl out of the truck on their own.

The bus driver and three passengers also sustained minor injuries. All seven of them were sent to Tseung Kwan O Hospital.

KMB said the bus driver had immediately made a turn after spotting the runaway truck, but the truck still hit the bus on its side. KMB added it would assist the bus captain and aid police investigation.
