A tenant left behind seven cats inside a Yuen Long village house in a suspected rental dispute.
A woman who owns a flat in Tung Tau Tsuen found her tenant to have left behind seven cats, some of which were kept in cages. She took back the flat at around 9am Monday after the lease expired on Christmas Day.
The owner reported to the police, and officers arrived alongside the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals staff.
They found the cats to be healthy and believed the tenant to have put out enough food and water before leaving two days ago.
Police said no animal abuse was involved and classified the case as a rental dispute. The cats are now being taken care of by the flat owner temporarily after she received instructions from the SPCA.
