A security guard at a residential complex in Tseung Kwan O has been suspended from duty after refusing to open the gate for an ambulance and cursing at residents who urged her to make way for the emergency vehicle.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night at Fu Ning Garden in Hang Hau.
According to a
Facebook post by a netizen who witnessed the incident, paramedics were trying to reach a patient in need of urgent medical attention when they were instructed by the male security guard to use another entrance.
When the female security guard was approached by the paramedics and residents to open the gate, she reportedly swore at them and refused to cooperate.
The incident has since drawn widespread criticism online, with many netizens calling for the security company to take action against the guard.
Sai Kung district councilor Andrew Chan Yiu-chor also intervened in the matter and received a reply from the property management office, which confirmed that the guard's behavior was unacceptable and that proper disciplinary action would be taken.
The property management office has also assured the public that they have instructed all guards to allow access to emergency vehicles.
This incident highlights the importance of ensuring that security personnel are trained to handle emergency situations and act in the best interest of the public's safety.
