Second false ceiling collapses incident in a week at Tuen Mun Hospital
Tuen Mun Hospital announced on Monday that a piece of false ceiling collapsed at the main block early this morning, just four days after a similar incident occurred in the same hospital. Luckily no one was hurt.
A hospital spokesman said the false ceiling was in the corridor outside a doctor's office. Maintenance staff have completed the emergency repairs, and it was believed the incident was caused by water seepage at a drainage pipe.
The incident did not involve the structural safety of the building, the spokesman added.
In addition, a fire door located at the hospital's main block also collapsed this morning due to the wearing of the door hinge.
It added that no patients or staff were injured in the incidents, and patient service was unaffected.
Tuen Mun Hospital was under the spotlight as a false ceiling collapsed inside a storeroom at the main block last Thursday. The incident was believed to be due to water seepage of a drainage pipe.
The hospital has also witnessed a ceiling hoist track used to carry patients broken in a ward on the first day of this month.
